Broad support for switches, wireless controllers, and network devices
This list details the wired and wireless equipment supported by PacketFence. Generally, any wired switch supporting MAC authentication and/or 802.1X with RADIUS can be supported.
Wired Support
PacketFence supports a comprehensive range of wired switches from all major vendors. Features include MAC authentication, 802.1X, dynamic VLAN assignment, and RADIUS-based access control.
VPN Support
PacketFence integrates with VPN solutions for remote access control. VPN clients can be authenticated and authorized through PacketFence's RADIUS infrastructure.
Wireless Support
PacketFence supports two wireless architectures:
- Controllers: When deployed, AP compatibility is handled by the controller. If your controller is supported, all its managed APs will work.
- Standalone APs: Some APs work identically with or without a controller. Try a controller module if one from the same vendor is supported.
