A preview of the exciting features and improvements planned for PacketFence version 5, scheduled for release in 2015.

As we approach the end of 2014, we want to share an update on the projects we’ve been working on at Inverse for PacketFence.

PacketFence v5 Roadmap

The upcoming PacketFence v5 release represents a major milestone for the project. We’ve been working on several significant enhancements that will transform how organizations deploy and manage network access control.

Planned Features

Fingerbank Integration

Version 5 will include deep integration with Fingerbank, our device profiling project. This enables accurate identification of devices connecting to your network, essential for BYOD and IoT security.

Enhanced Web Administration

The administrative interface is being redesigned for improved usability and modern workflows. Administrators will find it easier to configure and monitor their PacketFence deployment.

Performance Improvements

Significant optimizations are underway to improve PacketFence’s scalability and performance in large enterprise deployments.

New Authentication Methods

Additional authentication mechanisms will be supported, providing more flexibility for integrating with existing identity infrastructure.

Timeline

We’re targeting an early 2015 release for PacketFence v5. Stay tuned for more details as we finalize the feature set.
