First Version of PacketFence for Debian Available

PacketFence expands platform support with the first official Debian packages, making deployment easier for Debian and Ubuntu users.

We are pleased to announce the availability of the first official PacketFence packages for Debian!

Expanding Platform Support

Until now, PacketFence has been primarily distributed as RPM packages for Red Hat-based distributions. With this release, we’re expanding our platform support to include Debian and Debian-based distributions like Ubuntu.

What’s Included

The Debian packages provide:

  • Complete PacketFence installation
  • All dependencies properly packaged
  • Standard Debian installation workflows
  • Integration with Debian service management

Installation

Installing PacketFence on Debian is now as simple as:

  1. Add the PacketFence repository to your sources
  2. Update your package lists
  3. Install PacketFence using apt-get or aptitude
